Olbia Airport serves the Costa Smeralda region of Sardinia. There are flights with charter, scheduled and budget airlines and many flights are seasonal. Car hire at Olbia Airport is always a good option, so you can really get to explore the area and see everything that this pretty island has to offer. The car rental desks are in the arrivals area of the airport.
Olbia Airport has a small modern terminal with basic facilities for travellers. There is an information desk if you have any enquiries at the airport, about your flight or the local area. For all your money needs, there is a bank with an ATM and currency exchange facilities. Should you wish to work, there is a business centre or Wi-Fi access if you have a laptop or mobile. A pharmacy is available for those last minute emergencies. There are a selection of shops and restaurants at the airport. You can buy your book and water at Trade News or browse for last minute gifts at Free Fly Shop Multi-store. Look for souvenirs at Kara Sardegna, a boutique specializing in local products. When you feel hungry, you can head for Kara Kiosk, a cafe serving hot and cold meals or try the Cortesa Restaurant for fine cuisine. For a quick drink, there is the Kara Wine Bar.
Olbia is a normal modern city in the north east of Sardinia. It is not really known for its attractions but mostly visited for its shopping mall and McDonalds, unfortunately. However, there are still some things to see including the Romanesque Cathedral of San Simplicio that dates from the 11th century. You can also visit the Church of St Paul the Apostle or take a look around the Archaeology Museum.
The Costa Smeralda is known for its beautiful sandy beaches and azure sea. Just two popular beaches are at Romazzino and Liscia Ruia and the beach traders are good for haggling with and getting a bargain. With your car hire in Olbia, you can take a long drive along the coast road and see amazing views of this incredible coastline. Stop off at Porto Cervo to see the super yachts moored there or if you want to shop for luxury goods and ‘be seen’ Porto Rotundo is the place to go. For great snorkelling, Della Maddalena is not to be missed and very popular spot.
