Hahn Airport or Hahn-Frankfurt Airport as it is more commonly known, receives over 3.5 million passengers a year. It is seen as an alternative airport to Frankfurt, which is in fact 120 km and a 90 minute drive away, if you have car hire at Hahn Airport. The local region is often ignored due to this but well worth exploring by car. The pretty town of Kirchberg is just 10 km away and ancient Simmern is a 20 km drive.
Hahn Airport has one modern terminal that is mostly served by budget airlines. For those extra Euros, there is a bank and ATM as well as currency exchange facilities. There is a tourist information office to help you find out more about the local area and its attractions and there is an airport info point, for any enquiries you may have. A travel agency is available, if you need to change any of your travel plans. There are 7 shops including the Hub convenience store for last minute extras and Relay for newspapers and snacks. You can find fashion at Chic-y-micci or browse for duty free bargains at Heinemann. If you missed lunch, there are 12 food outlets to pick from at the airport. You can have a snack at Bit Stop and coffee at Gusto Bene or visit Buena Vista for something more substantial. If you want views of the runway whilst you eat, head for Flyer One. You can also take a tour of the airport, if you wish or if you are bored there is a 9 hole golf course and Go Kart track too.
Hahn is a village in Rhineland-Palatinate in Germany. In the village you can see the late 13th century gothic Saint Anthony’s Simultaneous Church and the An der Gass 15, a historic timber frame house that dates from 1800. In the marketplace, you will see the Apotheke and Jagerhof, old historical and colourful buildings of unique character. To find out more about how people have lived here in past times, visit the Kirchberger Heimat Museum.
