Asturias Airport is the only airport serving the Castrillon region of Spain. It is mostly used by budget and domestic flights and handles over 1.5 million passengers each year. Asturias Airport has just one terminal and numerous facilities for passengers. There is a Wi-Fi service if you want to surf the net or check emails whilst you wait for your flight. Three ATMs are available, if you need some extra Euros. If you have any questions at the airport there is an information desk at your service. A VIP lounge is available for business class passengers or for a charge. There are 2 shops for last minute buys, including Divers, a convenience store and Arga Astur, which has local products and craft items. Oviedo is an ancient city with an old town surrounded by stone wall remains. In the old town, you can see Oviedo Cathedral and Convent and look out for all the statues and sculptures dotted around. You can walk the city walls or browse the shops on Calle Uria. For a little relaxation, head for Parque San Francisco and walk around the pretty gardens and see ponds and peacocks. If you are in need of a little culture, see the works of El Greco and Picasso at El Museo de Bellas Artes. To get out of the city, take a walk up to El Cristo for fantastic views of the city and see pre Romanesque buildings on the way. In the evening, head for Calle Mon for bars, restaurants and nightlife.
Out and about with car hire at Asturias Airport, there is much to see in this pretty undiscovered region. It is recommended that you hire a car to really make the most of your stay in the Castrillon region. You can explore the incredible Picas de Europe National Park and the Tito Bustillo Caves. Take a drive out to the coastal towns of Gijon and Aviles for beautiful beaches. Gijon also has some interesting roman archaeological sites to explore and a Railway Museum. Finally, you can drive in to the Santa Catalina Highlands, for spectacular views.
